Br Moneeb Sarmad grew up in Calgary, Canada and graduated with a Masters of Education after completing his undergrad in Electrical Engineering from the University of Calgary. In his hometown, he was involved in serving his local Muslim community in a wide range of activities such as khutbahs (Islamic sermon), halaqahs (religious gatherings/lectures), pastoral support, and youth work. He started his journey in Islamic studies in 2010 when he began his hifdh (memorization of Quran).

Moreover, he studied fiqh, tafsir, hadith, and ‘aqidah with the local shuyookh (scholars) of his community. To further his education, he moved to Dallas, TX and is currently pursuing an ‘Alimiyyah’ degree at the Qalam Institute which he intends to finish in a couple of years’ time. He continues his studies part-time along with his full-time job as the Director of Education and Youth at the Islamic Association of Lewisville and Flower Mound (IALFM), whom he has been with since March 2022.

During his free time, he enjoys taking his daughter for walks, getting lost in history books, and munching on all kinds of kababs. Amongst other things, one of his life goals is to empower the Muslim community, especially the youth to be confident and proud Muslims and become the shining light in the world we live in.
